Wounded Warriors

Wounded Warriors ~ By Matrix Filia & Claudette Walker

Wounded Warriors,” Written with Matrix Filia.  This story was inspired by soldiers who shared their stories and struggles with PTSD with us over a period of more than 20 years. Although “Wounded Warriors” deals with a very serious subject, we have presented it though the tale of two brothers and their post-war reunion trip. We designed the book not to be in a scholarly tone or a cure for PTSD,  but to present thought-provoking ideas in an entertaining manner.

This inspirational novella was written with soldiers, families and those looking to attempt to understand the process of a soldier returning from a war zone to civilian life. However, it has now had a much further reach with readers who have suffered different traumatic experiences. The back of the print novella includes a space for planning an individual decompression map and a journal for notes.  When the authors made the decision to turn years of research into a novella, it seemed strange. However, we believed it was the only way to obtain the most impact in an inspirational book. We cared to spend many years studying soldiers who have returned and what life was like upon their immediate return to civilian life. Then we attempted to understand where soldiers have been, through soldiers willing and able to talk about some of their experiences in hot zones. All must attempt to understand what it is like in a war zone, to help ease a soldiers return. Then the question became how to best present the concept of an additional beacon to assist in a soldiers return. So, we created the inspirational novella and journal...

This review is from: Wounded Warriors (Paperback)
As a psychotherapist for over 20 years who has witnessed firsthand the effects of PTSD on returning soldiers, I was totally intrigued with Wounded Warriors. Authors Claudette Walker and Matrix Filia have written a book that is informational, educational and poignant as well. Through a combination of personal vignettes of the tales of war coupled with solutions that ameliorate the pain induced by their tour of duty, the book is very helpful to most all of us, so that we as people and as a community might
find new ways to support our troops.

The authors have developed a unique plan for vets that envelops our young men and women with support and encouragement that they so desperately need after the pressure of battle in a foreign country. Not only are vets often wounded physically but the emotional wounds may be just as serious in some cases. The symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder including flashbacks of horrendous scenes are extremely stressful.

I highly recommend Decompression Map not only for our wounded warriors, but for family, friends and the rest of us so that we might better understand the issues surrounding their re-entry into their communities and lives they led prior to fighting.

"This book should be a resource in every veteran counseling clinic." ~ Rusty Fairbanks

"I just read Matrix Filia's and Author Claudette Walker's masterpiece, WOUNDED WARRIORS. It was written in such a style that I felt I was involved directly in the story. It was an emotionally gripping experience as I actually can relate to it. This is a MUST-READ and everyone should seize the opportunity to learn from and appreciate your superb book. Thank you very much for your great gift to our brave soldiers and our society!" ~ Sergio Lebid

5 Star Review - "My father was an immigrant who loved this country and raised the American flag every day. He had nightmares about World War II until the day he died ... that day was 9/11 and the last thing he saw were the twin towers going down. PTSD? Who knows? But I wish I had this book when he used to wake up screaming. God bless these two authors for their obvious labor of love. The Wounded Warriors is brilliant. I hope the Department of Defense is paying attention. Now we won't have to feel so helpless when all we can think of to say is "Welcome Home." ~ Amazon Review

5 Star Review - "This is a must read for anybody coming home from combat duty and their family! This book can really help Veteran's transition back into Civilian Life after returning home so quickly after combat. Used as an Aid for family and friends of soldiers returning home. It gives you good clues on making the returning soldiers comfortable. Nice Job Ladies! ~ Amazon Review

Loving it!! You are introducing a fantastic concept. Reading it now. It's TERRIFIC!! ~ Pj Schott

Every soldier returning from a war zone needs time to
decompress and a way to readapt to civilian life. That has been
true for at least a century. Most recently, many of the men and
women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are having a hard
time adjusting to life at home.
